It might be a combination of the hormones but i think its mostly women's fear of loosing the baby and it manifests itself through dreams of those fears. I think it would be more intense during a first pregnancy for a woman since all of this is very new to her and she doesnt want to mess things up. I mean, one wrong move and she could loose the baby. I am not surprised that you and other women have weird dreams during this time. I'd be very surprised if you didn't.
I mean your dream of cutting your fingers and twins coming out says to me what i am talking about. I mean, the symbol of that they are coming out of your fingers is another way of saying an unusual birth...or better said, a premature birth because its not at the right place or right time. The simple act of cutting your fingers and this happened is a fear that your making a mistake might trigger a premature delivery or miscarriage of your package.

I know what your talking about, I had a dream just around christmas that I had had a miscarriage, and Merideth Grey from greys anatomy wanted me to deliver my baby on a tounge depressor, and they wouldnt do an ultrasound to see if I had lost the baby, but because I was bleeding they assumed..I woke up and surprisingly wasnt bothered a whole lot by the dream, and I am the type to be really scared by my dreams. I have been having them for the last couple of months. They are very vivid, and strange. I feel like I am quitting smoking again and going through the nicotine addiction. I am not worrying about them.

I have read somewhere that your mind produces weird dreams to get your mind off of whats to come. I guess if all we did was think about our pregnancy and deliery 24/7 we would be complete messes. Not that we don't think about it all the time anyway.

It means your hormones are going crazy. And your fears can come up in your dreams too. I had some really wacky ones, mostly related to deformities. Analyze them if you want, but don't worry, they're perfectly normal, if a little unnerving!
