To me, he seems like nothing more than a distraction but I don't know much about the dude.

When Josh Hamilton was first signed, he was a phenomenon; he could hit for power and average, had good speed, and was a great fielder with a rocket arm.

Then came the drugs.

Now Hamilton is supposedly clean, and he is working his way back. The only reason that he is getting another chance is because of his substantial talent. If he was a regular prospect, no one would care.

He was the first overall pick in the draft that year, and no team is going to let talent like that get away without another chance.

He was one of the biggest prospects in the game. He was supposedly a religious, soft-spoken kid who was only going to need a couple of years in the minors until he arrived in the majors.

The first thing that caught people by surprise was that he began covering his body with tatoos, which those around him thought odd, and then it was found that the problems when much deeper. He has pretty much missed the last four seasons, and the Reds are hoping that they can salvage something out of his once promising career. It's sad, he could have been a star for years now, if he had made it to the majors at 21 or 22, but now he is approaching 26, and he'll be lucky to stick with a Double-A team if he makes it at all. Just shows you that you can have all the talent in the world, but if you mess up, you can lose everything.

Coming out of highschool he seemed like the perfect baseball player. He could field, hit for power and average, run, and throw. He was great. Some say he was the best highschool prospect ever.

Sadly, he became highly involved with cocaine and it ruined him. I think he can still be a great player, especially since now he has his head on straight.
