I just gave my 7-month-old Gerber Puffs this week. I knew he was ready because he tolerates all food well, he's sitting upright and everytime I eat anything, he is all up in my business as if he wants some. He LOVES them,,,smiles everytime I pull out the canister. He hasn't choked on one yet!!!

We used them with our first son once for teething and that was enough, very little of them get swallowed, mostly you get a baby and a high chair covered in a gooey, sticky mess. Not worth the trouble when we could have given him a frozen teething ring and some oragel with no mess. I would not recommend them at all, yuck! My friends and I were discussing this recently and we all were of the same mind, ew, gross! My second son has never had them and he is almost a year old and has 8 teeth. They are basically used to give them something to do and chew on when they are teething. Just get a teething ring, wal-mart has this great one that is shaped like a star a friend and I both had them and both our sons love them!

We started our son on the Biter Biscuits when we was just about 9 months. We started the crunchies that melt about 81/2 months old. We waited til we had tried to chew his food. Some of them wait til they are 12 months old. We could tell when we gave him soft pieces of banana and he was able to chew and swallow with no problem. Keep an eye on them for quite a while because sometimes they like to stick more in their mouth because they are so excited to eat like their parents. We also ate something with him and said chew chew chew and let him watch us move our mouth up and down. They are quick learners. Congratulation!

My son was started on them about 5 and a half months old. His Dr even suggested it. But then again my son has been on soilds since he was about 4 months old. My sons dr is very old school and ask your moms {if your over 30} or grandparents and I bet most of the kids were started on soilds as soon as possible.

I think that i started mt baby on that around 5/6 months old, old enough where she can sit up and hold it in her hands and be able to put it in her mouth.

When they got their teeth. They should be able to sit up by themselves, hold the food in their hand, it actually tells you on the back of one of those boxes all the signs they would be able to eat them! Good Luck!!

I didn't start grains until 9 months because they are hard to digest and unnecessary.

I started fruit, veggies and meats around 7 months. Nothing before that except breastmilk. I also feed my baby real food not processed jarred baby food, not even pureed food.

It's called baby-led introduction to solids and it is safer than spoonfeeding:
