I need a topic to do a 15-page research paper on. It has to be from European history, and has to have happened at least 50 years. I am interested in something to do with science from early 1800s onward and has to be relatively specific, but not too specific. It can also be something like the Bolshevik revolution or Hitler's Germany or something, just please not anything to do with painting/scuplture/art!

I have to have an analytical research question. For example, a topic could be, in what ways did [insert name of one of Chopin's masterpieces] influence nationalism in [insert place]?

PLEASE!! Anything helps!! If you have the slightest idea, please tell!!

If you're interested in scientific thought of the 19th century, you may want to look into what the French called le Spiritisme. Basically, with the onslaught of science in that century, a lot of people began to attempt to prove metaphysical existence using science and technology.
With the advent of the camera, people began taking pictures of spirits (a lot of fraud going on there). You can also look into famous people who believed in this as well. Victor Hugo was entranced by the idea of "tables tournants" (turning tables which supposedly would communicate during a seance). Very interesting, though unfounded, stuff.

Perhaps a more interesting Topic? The Ottoman Empire and its relationship to Modern Day Europe!

Yugoslavia is where it was stopped, BUT with the split of the Country into Three Distinct Countries, WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

The Onslaught of Refugees and the continuation of The Empire?

IS THAT ENOUGH?

Thanks, RR

how did splitting the atom come from theory to application.

the idea of splitting of the atom was well know in schools before WW2, but not really researched. toward the end of ww2 it found a use and was researched in secret. when the u.s. caught wind of this they wanted it. Some scientist were terrified the the bomb would ignite the atmosphere itself on fire around the globe, killing all life. with this possibility they set it off anyway.
