how do you type those little hearts that some people put.

Holding alt and typing numbers will give you special characters. For example alt+0222 :Þ.
For a more visual way of looking up special characters, hit your start menu > All Programs > accessories > System Tools > Character Map.
This will let you create a little string of characters, hit copy and you can paste them wherever you like.

use Alt 3 for â¥
press the ALT key (and hold it down) then press on the 3 key on the right side of our keyboard then release ALT and â¥
