Someone in another topic mentioned that a list of the "new" seven wonders of the world is being made. This got me wondering what people on here thought should be on the list.

My suggestions:
1. Acropolis
2. Christ the Redeemer statue
3. Easter Island
4. Taj Mahal
5. Hagia Sophia
6. Statue of Liberty
7. Kremlin

Well, I agree with a lot of what you put, but I have to give the #1 vote to the Pyramids of Giza. This wonder is the ONLY one of the original 7 that is still standing.

My suggestions are:
1) Pyramids of Giza
2) Great Wall of China
3) Stonehenge
4) Easter Island statues
5) Roman Colesseum
6) Machu Picchu
7) Mayan Pyramid at Chichén Itzá, Yucatan

As much as I'd like to put the Statue of Liberty, more modern technologies were applied to construct it than the items on my list. If you think about the word "wonder," it doesn't apply very well. The same is true of the Christ the Redeemer statue and other relatively recent (as opposed to what I chose) architectural constructions. After all, the official title to these is "The Seven Wonders of the ANCIENT World."

Stonehenge and its panorama, adding Woodhenge and the nearly invisible Durrington Walls. These, and different buildings, Robin Hood's Ball, Wilsford Shaft and innumerable lengthy and later circular barrows scatter the apparent, a sacred position for over 2 thousand years opening approximately 5 thousand years in the past. Surprisingly it was once principal decades earlier than circular ditches had been dug or stones erected as proven by means of the giant picket poles erected in what's now the auto park. Another declare to status is the closeness - an afternoon's stroll - of Stonehenge and that different popular stone circle, Avebury. This so much higher, partly restored, open stone circle was once later developed into and used for the encircling village, which makes it guest pleasant ,despite the fact that the crowds of viewers would possibly check out the endurance of the locals. It, is also facet of s sacred intricate of monuments, adding Silbury and Windmill Hills ( now not the identical, the previous is 'guy-made') and West Kennet lengthy barrow. These 2, near historical sacred landscapes make up a monument of global significance - and they're nonetheless obvious and available! The customary significance of this facet of Wessex, the convenience with which viewers would possibly benefit from the atmosphere and stroll amongst, or close those historical stones, the significance of the encircling landscapes all make this one of the vital primary prehistoric areas of the sector.

I think the reason the number seven was chosen was because it sounded extra cool with the word for 'wonders' in Greek.

There is nothing particularly sacred about the number seven: it's not like anyone was going to visit them all in a week.

I agree that visiting all of those you mention would be cool.
Is the Statue of Liberty more wonderous than the Eiffel Tower, or the Great Wall of China, or even the Chrysler Building?

The giant Buddhas they blew up in Afghanistan were quite a bit more impressive than the heads on Easter Island, I think.

How anyone could leave the Parthenon (Acropolis) off of this list is beyond me...especially when including modern skyscrapers instead.

Everything we have here in the world are truly, madly, deeply wonderful!

But it still up to you how do you appreciate each of them.

That's why for me.....To SEE, to SPEAK, to HEAR, to TASTE, to FEEL, to SMILE and to LOVE is the best!!!

Isn't it really wonderful???...Have you imagine without this to your life???!!

Really, GOD IS WONDERFUL!!!

Good Luck!!!
