Lee likes to dress smartly on stage, as many popular stand-ups do (eg Dara O'Briain, Frankie Boyle, Eddie Izzard... in a more feminine way). With his endless physical reaching and stretching, it is likely that his shirt would become untucked at the back, making him appear scruffy. The jacket helps to hide this.
Unfortunately, his very physical style of comedy, coupled with the hot theatre lights and layers of clothing, causes him to sweat like the proverbial pig.
When performing his longer shows, during the interval he will change into a fresh suit and have a quick wash to freshen up. Which leads me to wonder... what does he do with his drenched suits? Are they ruined and therefore just throws them away, or does he have them cleaned? Still, that is another question entirely...!

As someone already said, Lee is like a bottle of Coke that has been shaken thoroughly when he is on stage. Open the lid and "Voila", he sweats like a horse that has just ran the grand national twice. His adrenalin must really kick in big time to cause such a sweat gland reaction though.

Yup in the 2005 DVD he changes during intervals. I would have thought he'd stick with the white suit as it hides the sweat more!

It's really distracting the way he needs to use the towel to get rid of the sweat. Still, he's one of the funniest men on the planet.
