I think people are confusing casual with shabby in the way they dress.Whenever I go out I notice that the elderly in general dress very tastefully, that's because they grew up in the 50's and early 60's when going out was a bigger deal than it is today and people dressed up even to go to the store. My generation,we were the hippies, jeans,t-shirts and sandals, nothing fancy. I have learned since then that dressing properly is important because wether we like it or not we are judged by our appearance.

Yep and it's pretty drn sad. Also going to a job interview in jeans with holes in them and a bloody t-shirt on. It's just plain downright stupid.l would never hire person if they dressed like that and came for an interview before me.
Not even to a concert or fine dining in a restaurant. People are such slopps.

Dressing up has become less important as long as you're neat and clean. When people eat out or go to the movie they want to be comfortable.

No, I agree with you and think people will dress the way they want to regardless of what others think is "proper". Substance over style, anyday!

I think people have gotten fatter and feel too depressed to dress nicely.
