I have never registered with any of the State or Government no call list and never had a "problem" with telemarketers harassing me.
This great state of connecticut had a huge campaign on a few years ago all kinds of marketing to get you to register you cell phone numbers otherwise you would be harassed by telemarketers.
They really tried to intimidate and scare people with the idea you would go broke being charged for the calls unless you register you cell phone with the state.....BULL!
I didnt register and they never have called!
Its a scam to have everyones name, numbers and address for state and federal government use.........and records for whatever reason that may be. Just more control, less rights for us more for them!

What I am saying is I did not register on the no call lists as told and I still do not get any telemarketers calling me on my hard line phone or my cell phone! So why all the hype by the state, what they said would happen has not! And my #s are on no state of federal no call list!

Stop wearing the a tinfoil hat. That's how big brother is intercepting your thoughts.

p.s. you probably -are- on the list. I bet your kids added you. They know you're a crazy old coot, and they're trying to protect their inheritence.

When I pay for something, such as phone service, and you take what I have paid for and use it to try to sell me something, you are in the wrong. Why should a telemarketer be allowed to invade space, and use it for his business.
This gives us, not them, control of the things that we pay for. It is a good thing. If you call me to sell me something, you are wasting your time. I will not buy anything offered by a company that does not respect my property and privacy!!
To answer your question, all my numbers (home, work, cells and fax) are on the do not call list!!

It might help if you get a private number. Try calling your phone company and ask them to remove it from the published directories.
Also you can update your credit card information etc, and include your cell phone number only.
NEVER put your work or home numbers.
If you are at a place or time that you dont want to be interupted, you can just turn that phone off.
Worked perfectly for me!

I am from New Jersey and we had a similar No Call List for your residence phone number. You had to register within a specified time and, if you didn't, you couldn't.
Anyway, to make a long story short, it doesn't work, the telemarketers keepa calling.

They work. I have all my numbers on it and it seems to help. The problem is, it doesn't cover charities and companies you do business with, which can be a lot. The easiest way to stay off lists is to not give your number out to anyone. Its hard, but avoid it as much as possible or give out a phony one.
As far as your paranoid, irrational thoughts on gov't use, I can't help you. Go talk to whomever gives you your Kool Aid. Do you actually think the state or Federal Gov't needs you to give them your number? Pay taxes or work? They got your name, number, address, already. Once again, if your not doing anything wrong, whats your worry anyway?

Yes....I have asked several telemarketers for there phone numbers and I would get back to them when it is convenient for me but they never give me there number....why?
If someone does not want to be bothered by phone solicitors then that there choice and it should be respected.

Not really. They call when they want anyhow. You ask them not to call back and they hang up. You ask them for their phone number, they hang up.
What's the point? The caller ID says "Unavailable."
