i need some serious help from anyone who might know what is wrong with my chevy. i have a 2000silverado with push button 4x4 and when i put in 4 hi my wheels lock up on me i have never had this problem before. i would appriciate any help i can get thank you

the wheels lock up huh? check the wheel speed sensors, sounds like the ABS acting up.

How long have you owned the vehicle,if you have had it from new how many times do you put it into 4x4 without seeing the vehicle I can only take a best guess,it's possible that the front diff has seized up.Try jacking the front end up,so that both wheels are off the ground,put the vehicle on jack stands or something that will support the weight,you don't want to get crushed,crawl underneath and disconnect the front driveshaft,now see if you can turn any of the wheels on the front,just grab a wheel and try turning it,if it's really stiff or just won't turn chances are the front diff is seized.that's why when you select 4x4 everything come to a grinding halt.

You push button is not allowing it to engage all the way. a lot of Chevy's have the same problem need to take it to the shop.

I agree with Toby,the transfer case is not shifting completely.

could be a bad connection or a bad button

the control module for the 4wd lost its momory it my need to be reprogramed
