I want to rent a car in Pennsylvania to drive to Florida. I have family members who refuse to fly and are to old to drive alone. Do you think I can do this. And is it going to be really expensive?

If you're at least 25 and have a credit card you can.

It will potentially be expensive but you might be able to get a weekly rate (depending on who you go with). Plus, you can always ask your passengers to chip in for gas if nothing else...

Of course you can. I don't think that it will be overly expensive if you share the cost. With more than one driver, it should be a breeze.
