Like many undergraduate majors, it starts off being relatively easy and gets harder from there. Depending upon where you go, it can be one of the more demanding areas of study within the social sciences, but it is a very useful degree.

If you have not had an economics course in high school, I would read up on some of the basics before getting to campus. Knowing the rudiments of things like supply and demand, GDP, money supply etc. helps to give you an advantage.

A lot (but not all) of economics is mathematically oriented these days. I would brush up on math. Economics at the undergraduate level often uses calculus and statistics.

a 4 12 months degree in economics is not any harder to get than the different 4 12 months company appropriate degree - it is the same type of credit I had to take 4 econ classes as an Accounting significant - surely a waste of my time there basically isn't that a lot call for or accessible jobs for economics majors as are there is for Finance or Acctg majors - extraordinarily outdoors of authorities paintings - each and every company needs an accountant (or 3) and finance majors can get jobs in banking, investments, economic making plans, etc the purely econ significant I knew from college changed into promoting funding products 5 yrs after commencement - he called me to be certain if I had any money to make investments - i did not and that i have continually carried out my own making an investment and prefer no-load money
