My workplace is divided. Many people think the hippo due to its size. Others think the polar bear because of its claws and killer instinct. Ive done some research into this and they seem well matched. I have a boring job

I think it would depend on who has the home advantage - a hippo would be useless on ice

Polar bears are the biggest bears on the planet. Hippos are the most dangerous animals in Africa apparently. Would be a good fight. I think the hippo would win. Even though the bear has claws, the skin of the hippo is very thick so could probably take quite a mauling before he got the bears head in his massive mouth and chomped down on it. Have you seen the size of their teeth? Think that would do some damage.

Well, yes Polar Bears have killed Warlus, Leopard Seals, Begula Whales, but this animals are not as powerful and don't have jaws like Hippo do. I think it was measure they have a bite force of 2400 pounds and the bear has 1700-1800 pounds. Hippo can kill a pack of lions, 12 foot crocodiles or larger, it could weigh 8000 pounds!
Hippo will crush the bear and it also depends on the environment!

My girlfriend went to kenya once and all the guides said they were most scared of the hippos, because they are unpredictable, and fast when they want to be, weigh they same as a car and have massive jaws and teeth that would crush a person no prob. A polar bear is huge for sure, with v sharp teeth and claws, but did you see it trying to attack a walrus on 'planet earth'? just bit the big blubbery creature but could not get its teeth in, because its hide was so tough. Look at a hippo, nothings getting through that skin in a hurry. A hippo would win, they are just too big, well armoured, aggressive when needs be, and powerful

Hippo:
Hippos are probably larger in size. They don't have sharp teeth, they have flat teeth. They have skin that isn't covered by fur. They have big bodies but that might slow them down. On their land, they might win with nice hot land, the polar bear would be very hot without the cold weather.
Polar Bear:
Polar bears have claws and have sharp teeth. They are covered with fur so one bite from an animal and they might not feel it at all. They might be faster then hippos. They have killer instinct. and on their land it would definitely win because they blend in and hippos don't have fur to keep them warm so the polar bear clearly has the advantage.

A polar bear would win.It is a carnivore, and is used to killing large animals to eat.
A hippo is a fierce creature and accounts for a larger percentage of deaths due to animals in africa than you would think, but the bear would win.The hippo is large and could kill the bear if it crushed it or managed to bite it, however the bear is a natural killer, is quick, nimble and is more intelligent.i would estimate that it would not be a quick kill, but rather a gory fight with the bear probably killing the hippo by severing some vital blood vessel or nerve centre.

a polar bear would win in a fight if he was against a hippo because polar bears are omnivores so they would be up to eating a hippo aside from a hippo who is a herbivore so the hippo would not exactly attack the polar bear

well i don't think the question is relevant because hippos do not live at the north or south poles do they, but if i had to wager a bet i would say that the polar bear with its sheer strength and claws would decimate the hippo. when my daughter was little she used to call a hippo a hittopotamus! (lol)

I think that the hippo rhino tag team would win b/c the hippo mouth is like a million sledge hammers when it closes it's mouth. The rhyno probably would be able to give the polar bear a challenge but the lion is smarter and would handle the rhyno.

depends where the fight was, if on the polar bears turf, he would win PAWS down because the hippo would be to busy shivering to fight. If it were on the hippo's turf, he'd win because the poor polar bear would be dying of heat stroke,

Hippos kill more people in Africa than any other animal. Due to that and there size, my bet is on the hippo
