I know people say it should be a percentage, but sometimes the cost of the cut, colour, styling can add up, so how much do you tip personally? I always tip between £3 and £6 depending on what change I have left.
Am I tight? lol

I come from a smaller town in IL and we get to know our stylists and such and usually stick with a good one or leave a bad one. I have a lady that i have known for 5 yrs. SHe is great and has always done me right. I give her $10 extra when i go. Sounds like a ton I know but she is special to me and i always know to include this amount in my budget for my hair stuff. If it is just someone i have went to on the fly and needed something done fast i give a rounded up number to the regular charge, $17 I give $20, and so on. If i like the person maybe even $5. I do the same though when i tip at a resturant. Good service gets more than bad. I think some people do get caught up in the percentage thing but it is a personal choice i think. And dont think of yourself as cheap or not. You can be the judge of the service you receive. I think i am this way because many years back i worked as a maid while going to school. I always did a good job and extra great for those who were polite and kind to me. The tip was just a bonus on top! :O)

I don't tip as I am not exactly rolling in money at the moment! I think between £3 and £6 is good, it's not like that's all the wages they get and a tip is mainly a sign of appreciation for their job, not a way to subsidise their pay check.

I have never cared about percentages. What matters is, did they give me good service, did they go beyond my expectations and were they pleasant to be around. If all that falls into the picture, I tip. That goes for any other service that has their hand out when you pay the tab; waiter, waitress, etc.

I think tipping is garbage in may respects, basically you are paying an employee something the employer should be paying--fair wage.

I tip my hairdresser 20%. If the hairdresser is an identical one that washes your hair (smaller salons), I provide somewhat extra advantageous than 20%. regardless of if it is somebody distinct I provide not extra an 10% of the hair decrease to the hair washer.

I usually pay £7 for my haircut and tip £1. Thus with £2 bus fare it costs me £10 total.

I don't think that your being tight atleast you tip. I do hair and five is a nice tip and anything over i'm really happy. But if you don't have the extra cash by all means don't go broke and worry and if you weren't happy don't tip. that's the best i can tell you.
