It's closer to what you do and what you need. AMD was the leader for years, but Intel is with the Core 2 cpu. If not on a budget, go for the Intel, if on a budget, then AMD. If a gamer, again, falls in to non-budget...Intel and video card, budget...AMD and better video card.

this isn't an person-friendly question. it truly is likewise not the first time someone has requested it and it wont be the in simple terms proper time. on account that 1996 i owned intel's all the way until eventually January 2006. Then i purchased an AMD Athlon sixty 4 3200+ (Venice). I actual have benchmarked My AMD adverse to Intels I actual have outfitted, and the INTEL comes out on correct in a large number of of the change benchmarks, with the AMD not far behind. in words of fee in case you analyze the fee of an INTEL 3.2 GHZ 640(or 641) and the AMD 3200+, the AMD is much more cost-effective yet with a 2-10% distinction in score. If we seem at it from a fee to overall performance attitude the AMD is extra ideal. If we seem at performance AMD is extra ideal. AMD will be tremendous for each thing . in case your going to play video games iether will fulfill yet in case you do a large number of video enhancing and encoding opt for the Intel. different factor of be conscious is that iether which way you go you want a good motherboard chipset to praise the CPU. Nvidia Nforce 4 is tremendous for AMD. For Intel the 945, 955 and 975 kind of chipsets are outstanding. Oh sure Nforce for Intel is tremendous. If i replaced into wealthy i ought to maximum probable purchase the Intel for prestige, yet i'm not and the AMD's effieciency and fee to overall performance (as well because the improve direction) have received me over. in case you purchase a first rate board you'll get a cheapish 3200+ now and in 6 months your board ought to nonetheless be able to take the present X2 Dualcore processor, thats in the journey that they are nonetheless accessible for Socket 939 forums in 6 months time (AM2 slot is the following).

until Intel released the Core 2, AMD was the best choice cpu.
You can't go wrong with Core 2, speed and power consumption wise.

Actually they are both good. They can do the job just as good inspite of each of their marketing bru-ha-ha. The important thing is to get the best for your money. So it is important to know first if you need a high performance processor for your need or just a good processor which can perform your daily needs. Remember the higher the performance the higher the price too. So just first get to know what you need. Don't overdo it. Don't overkill. Ask yourself one question, "Do I really need that kind of power?" Good luck!
