Today isn't like 50 years ago. A lot of countries are more advanced. I am sensing a next world war but don't know when it will happen.

It'll be a chain reaction, Iran nukes Israel, Israel has time to fire off retaliatory strike, US jumps in to protect Israel, N. Korea seizes the opportunity to invade the south while the US is busy and stretched thin, so too does the People's Chinese Army takes over Taiwan, In order to stop Korea with limited manpower, US uses tactical nukes, in response China lofts to continental US targets, automatic triggers in US Strategic Command send nukes toward China....can you live thru all this....hmmm, maybe if you join stnglove in his deep silo.

We've beaten the odds so far, but probability has way of catching up to up you. Let's look at current crisis.

Targeting sites in a nuclear war with Iran, or any country in the region, would involve widespread nuclear contamination and large numbers of casualties. It would be impossible to limit this to Iran alone. And even in extreme circumstances, the only clear requirement for high-yield strategic nuclear weapons would be on some selected command and control facilities; their use would have to be restricted to a small number of targets because of fallout considerations.

Because of Murphy's Law, the conflict could escalate into a major confrontation between US and Russia/China, especially when long range missiles are fired by the US at Iran (for instance), it could be interpreted by early warning systems in Russia and China as an attack against them.

The military people call it "accidental or false attribution". How does China know the missile is headed for Iran and not them? By the time the flight path is determined, it could be too late to form a retaliatory response, hence, it's better to "launch on warning". A global nuclear exchange could be initiated in a nuclear war in the Middle

There's been over 20 close calls during the Cold War and Post Cold eras, from the Cuban Missile Crisis to the accidental training tape incident at NORAD in the late 1970's, to the more recent 1995 incident involving a Norwegian science satellie launch. The hair triggers nearly put the world into a nuclear inferno. Most people in the world did not know how close they've come for the nuclear sword of damacles to come tumbling down on the heads.

Even today, we only stand 28 minutes from a nuclear at any given time. The aging Russian early warning systems and their reduced security after the break-up of the Soviet Union should be real concerns.

If anything, a nuclear war will be the result of accidental launches from a false alarm from the two 'strategic' superpowers.

One only needs to look back at WW II and consider that they destroyed the industrialized world with what was both early & mid 20th century tech. So I myself can only guess , when considering how connected we are today "the entire globe" trough trade as to what and how far & wide 21st century war will take us. We have heavy bombers that can deploy weapons at any precise place on Earth in minutes. WW III would / will engulf the entire civilized world. I believe there will be little or no chance of any military powere to just sit be and watch. This will be a fight or submit circumstance. Any any countries civilized , third world or otherwise , if not in direct war will be consumed by civil war of the worst kind. The rest who will not fight will be subject to those who will """Only the dead have seen the end of WAR""" Plato 4th century BCE SPQR Long live Western Civilization

I wish world war will never happen again, although at this moment the world seems unpeaceful. I think people should use some peaceful policy to prevent dispute of the energy sources.

Pollution in this planet is heavy enough. Warring world war 3 does not brings lots future benefits, every country will think carefully . I think.

No world war. Economic war now yes. If you belive in God he is sending his son Jesus Christ back soon also and he will judge all of us for what we have done on this planet for others. That is of more concern of WWIII.
