I have been to Disney a few times, but never to Island of Adventure at Universal. My 5yr old is really into Super Heroes, but wasn't sure if the rides/activites are suited for his age group. Just trying to do something different then Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom (which wasn't that great). Thanks!

Depending on your kid's height they might be too short for most of the rides. They do have a super hero parade that is ok and have a Dr Suess play area with some rides.

While Islands of Adventure is a terrific park - it can be geared for older kids and adults. The park is most known for its thrilling roller coasters. However, it does have 3 sections designed for young ones. The Dr. Suess Land is a lot of fun and has rides for all ages. There are rope swings and a climbing/jungle gym area over by the Jarassic Park Ride which are only for kids under a certain height and weight. They also have a few fun activities and rides in the comic book section - near the Hulk ride and the Poppeye water ride.
I think you would both have a great time there. I'm shocked that you weren't impressed with Disney World. You don't hear that often. You won't find better customer service in any theme park than at Disney.

Wherever you plan to visit - have a great time!

Alot of the rides there are made for more teenage age kids but I do no that they have a section of there park called Sues Landing which would be a great place to take him. Im sure that if you look on the universal stuidos themepark website it will tell you good rides reccomended by each age group. Hope this helps and that you and your son have a good time there.

I would have to say that this park is for the more teenaged type, but there are very few rides that you and your son can enjoy. One that will be very fun for him is the Popeye and Olive Oil's Boathouse. There are many slides and ball pits and fun characters to entertain him. He may also be old enough to ride some of the simulators{Captain America} or the Jurassic Park ride{it's in the air, really slow going}, but he will definetly love Dr.Seuss World! Unless he hates Dr.Suess. Dr.Suess world is loads of fun and there are fun rides for your little one. It is a big breath of fresh air from Disney, not all little kids love Disney. LOL.

I took my 5yr old daughter last yr and she loved it!! We went during July 4 and the lines weren't very long, also if you go to Islands of Adventure .com u can simply click on the rides and get the height requirements for each ride bcuz that may b an issue.
