I love red lipstick. It looks great. Make sure it's red and not hot pink though.

There are so many kinds of red these days that you should easily find one for your skin tone. There are the berry looking reds and they look good with brown hair and lighter skin. THere are the orange reds that look good with redish brown hair and light skin. That is what I wear, an orangy-red from Mary Kay called Tickled Pink(but not pinky). And there is the old world red red that is very sexy for evening wear and most skin types. I think that it really has to do with the occasion, your outfit and attitude. You will find that the better and sexier you feel about yourself the better you will feel and be received by others. Now I dont wear red red when i am on my way to work but instead save it for a special night out. A lot of women do though if they are in different jobs and maybe have to take clients out for lunches and such. It also can depend on your hair and other facial make ups. Sometimes it is fun just to go to a fancy store and have yourself made up at the make-up counter. Or even do it in the privacy of your own home with some help on the internet. Many AVON sites and Mary Kay sites will give you a color chart. I have noticed that the new lines of make up are going by eye color and that they will pull it all together in a look based on that. But yes, red red sexy red is great for a special night out or just to make yourself feel great so go for it. The classics never go away.

Red lipstick is a timeless classic, so don't worry - you are not living in the past.
There are so many shades of red lipstick out there it's tough to decide what you should wear and what you should stay away from.
It all depends on your skin tone - and features. Red lipstick can make you look older, so you have to be careful to wear the correct shade.
There are some shades that include a hint of brown or rose, and then there are the full blooded reds like MAC Russian Red or NARS Fire Down Below (two of my favorites but then I have medium olive skin and it doesn't look too bright on me). I also like using MAC Siren applied over MAC Diva - fantastic shade!!
My advice is for you to stop by a MAC or Stila counter and ask a MAA to recommend some suitable shades for you and pick one. You can purchase more shades later using that shade as a guide.

I understand your love for red lipstick!! I think it can work with all skin tones!! However, I think the lighter you skin color is the deeper the red should be. I dont think it looks fake at all, although I am sure people don't think that you naturally have cherry red lips lol!!

I love red lipstick, it does look better when you wear something red, so your lips match. I'm not sure what hair color looks better with red lipstick, I have blond almost white hair.

There are many different tones of red lipstick. I personally avoid reds with pink tones. I am a natural redhead. I like earthy tones better. I will wear red with more earth tones in them.

To wear what the mode imposes is stupid...specially when it comes to colours, or tell me, does the colour of your skin change? It is a mistake to think any colour suits dark women too.
Pure red and dark reds suit specially fine to white skins. Red orange suits perfectly dark skin, as red-pink.
Contrast is everything, and the reds (red, orange, pink, corals...) are colours of alive people...use them...
