o man i just did this like 6 weeks ago. i can explain it :D. This quote is saying.......... it is talking about the U.S. and how the citizens first started building up on the east and want to expand to the west. Ok so let me rewrite the quote. It is our god given right to spread and take the entire continent which god has given us. Then after this quote is spoken the westward expantion movment occures where people spread from one half to the U.S. to the other half. Alright check it out girl, manifest destiny was an idea that was popular in those times. Americans believed that god wanted them to extend the country all the way to the west coast. Meaning that they would control territory that wasn't theirs. They would do so by force, example: mexican war and the killing and removal of native americans.

The manifest destiny is something that is going to happen, it is fate, it is going to happen regardless of what you think will happen.

So it is saying that god gave us this contienent, our job our duty, our destiny rather is to go and posses it to own it. To obtain it in any way possible.
