It is all about societies screwed up thinking. I have heard it said that Black women think big is beautiful. While White women think big is something to be ashamed of.
Because of these thinking patterns, If a large white women were to walk into a room full of small white women she would immediately think that every one is judging her, and that she is the ugliest person in the room. These thoughts are reflected in her actions and level of confidence, and then people start judging her and find her lacking.
Were she to think more positive thoughts about herself, she would find that other people's opinions mirror her thoughts.

They had a thing on dateline or one of those shows about this a while back. Generally speaking, black women have higher self esteems then white women. They are more likely to be happy with themselves then white women are. If a person is happy with themselves others are more likely to be happy with them.
I think its stupid for anybody to be treated as monstrous. I used to be very heavyset, but I was probably a better person and even happier then when I lost the weight. After I lost it, I had this chip on my shoulder because people treated me a lot different and I realized how stupid people were. I was the same person, but for some reason skinny I was treated so much better then I was when I was heavy.

I am not heavy nor am I skinny, I have curves. Anyway it is all on how society sees things in my city every guy runs after the skinny beach blonde tan girl and it is stereotyping. I dont care though because I am myself and I go for the guys that I like. Even though I have curves I still like "skinny" guys, there is nothing wrong with that. You have to find a guy that wants a girl with that body. you see? oh and about the comment above about white women with no breasts. i am a size D and I have a booty... so uhm yea i got the curves and i dont wear clothes that are too big.

Because a black woman has curves and a bigger chest size, while if the white woman is heavy set she doesnt have much curves or big breasts so she just looks fat. No offense becuase there are beautiful curvy white women. Just some are like i described

I read a study recently about self esteem, and young black women were at the top. Black women, thick or thin, always have men showing appreciation for their form and curves. A lot of black men love a "thick" black woman. This in turn causes her to feel good about her self and dress that thickness right and walk it with confidence. Confidence always looks better.

I think it's because African American women have more realistic body image than that of most White women. Waify super model look that White society favors is not realistic goal for the average woman. Black women are generally more comfortable of how they look and the men love them for their confindence. When you think about, more people should accept how they look rather than look for some "golden standard".

well, I am somewhat heavy beatiful black woman, and to answer your question,it's because we aren't ashamed of our body,and we don't care what other people think about us, if they make it in my size then I'm going to wear it. White women think that they have to have the perfect body, but that's not true,look at the plus size super model Emmy,she's big and beautiful.

Huh. There are many large beautiful women. In white culture though there is a bigger emphasis on skinny anorexic looking women as beautiful

The dark skin makes them skinnier. Like a black dress vs a beige dress.
Black guys like big booties.
The upper class Anglo frown on fatness. Since they don't care about other races, they attack their own.

First off who are you to stereotype a race that is wrong..... Black women are beautiful becuase they know what they got and are very confidant no matter what there size. I am a white woman with confidence it is all in how you yourself perceive YOURSELF.....
