Hubby got me a bunch of cast irons for Christmas and I was told by a friend that I may never get the privilage of using them because you can't use them with the type of cook top I have. It is a flat black glass cooktop. If this is true, why is this? Will it harm my cooktop or the cast irons?

We use cast iron all the time and the cooktop is now 5 years old with no signs of wear. Only thing in our instructions was the use of glassware. I guess glass scratches glass.

I don't think this is true, I use cast iron skillets with a glass top all of the time. You skillet tops should have a metal seal around them, that is what absorbs the heat and keeps the lid from breaking. Using them will not harm the skillets or the stove.

I used them on mine (when I'm home), and never had a problem with it messing up my glass cooktop and never had a problem with the cast iron pots either.

No see you later because the bottom is sparkling and gentle (no sharp bumps, and so on.) I used one on my glass properly range each and each of the time. notwithstanding, those range tops are VERY puzzling to maintain sparkling lengthy time period. keep on with the guidelines as reported on your guide. Use a plastic/rubber rib to sparkling after each use.

Wow. If I ever bought my girlfriend frying pans for christmas, I'd be wearing one implanted on my head as an ornament.
