I have 4 sets - and rotate them regularly, so this is not a problem for my 'active' sleep linens. . . but . . . my guest room sheets? It was a problem for me, as you have described, until I put them in plastic bags, with sachet packets (I like lavender, the best) . . . remembering to take them out for airing, prior to using when company is due . . .
Hope this works for you . . .!

take a dryer sheet and cut it up and put it in between each set of sheets, this should keep them smelling fresh. Or just throw them in the dryer with a dryer sheet for a minute or two before you put them on your bed. Or try febreeze, there are so many febreeze scents out now.

When washing them use a cup of ammonia. Put a dryer sheet between them before storing, that will keep them smelling fresh.

The above suggestions are good, and perhaps you might store them with a sachet or some sort of nice drawer liner as well. Lavender is lovely, and so is rose; or any fragrance of your choice. It is nice to sleep in scented sheets.

That is a toughy.
i sugest keeping your sheets in an open closet and if you have to have them closed up, put a sprtiz of perfume every so often or a bar of fresh sweet smelling soap on the drawr or closet that you store them in.
~hope it helps!

Try placing a fabric softener sheet in each set before you put them away, or place a box of Arm & Hammer baking soda in the closet it will help absorb musty ordors.

Re-wallpaper your linen closet. I think the problem is your linen closet may be "stale." Washing the insides, new paint or wallpaper, should help.
Also, if you don't already, use something like Bounce anti-static sheets in your dryer. They will give the laundry a nice scent.

When you fold them to put them away, put some dryer sheets in between the folds. To freshen them put them in the dryer with a dryer sheet before putting on bed.
