I would think all countries base their policies upon their own beliefs, whether those beliefs be religious, social, cultural, etc. Any country's policies can be considered narrow minded and ignorant by those who disagree with the policies.

The Bible says (among other things):
"Thou shalt not bear false witness."
The U.S. has laws banning perjury, libel and slander, and fraud.
Do you notice the similarity? Do you think that the similarity is merely a coincidence?
Do you think that laws banning perjury, libel and slander, and fraud are ignorant, narrow-minded laws?
