okay so i have a question about ovulation...I know roughly 14 days after the first day of ur period if your on a 28 day cycle etc...my question is what should i look for?? Late last night before bed I had a slimey mucas whitish looking come out when i wipped...IS this the time? I did have sex with my husband today...IS this what i'm looking for...or is there other signs other things i should be looking for......serious answers only!

congrats, you have found the mucus. It was the right time. Now every other day during the mucus. Longer you have the mucus the better your changes. lots of stretchy mucus lasting 5-6 days or more means your hormones are good and therefore less likely to miscarry

The whitish color means ovulation is approaching. Next, you should see (and be looking for!) the clear, stretchy mucous that can stretch an inch or two in between your thumb and forefinger. It will look exactly like egg-white. There is 6 day window to get pregnant- the most 3 fertile days are the two days before ovulation, and the day OF. Having intercourse was a good idea! You should have intercourse every other day until you think you are ovulating (buy some tests at the $1 store), then every day during your peak fertile time. Are you charting your BBT? You should notice a peak in temp after ovulation. When you no longer see the fertile looking mucous and notice a rise in temp., ovulation has occured and you will no longer be fertile for that cycle. That 14 day thing is a really, really rough estimate so don't count on it. The slimy mucus stuff is what you're looking for (just like egg whites ... it should stretch and inch or two or more) plus an elevated basal body temperature vs. the days since your cycle started. Get a digital basal thermometer and take your temp every morning before you stand up (a great excuse to loll around in bed for a while). If you chart it for a month, you'll know exactly when you ovulate.
Anyway, the bottom line is that when you see the egg whites, go for it!
There's a wonderful book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility that helped me and a couple of my girlfriends a ton. If you're still having trouble in a couple of months, you might check it out.

Fertile cervical fluid is usually clear like eggwhites. White mucus means you are rapidly approaching your fertile phase. Keep checking for the next few days and start having intercourse. It couldn't hurt.
P.S. Once your temperature spikes, you have already ovulated. Ideally you should alread have sperm inside you waiting when the egg is released, so having sex a few days before you ovulate works best.

get the ovulation kit which you get in walgreens for 17 dollars...It is very accurate...using that a month or two..you will come to know the exact days you are ovulating...mine is always on the 13th day...and when i ovulate i have the pain in the lower stomach somewhat like the periods pain...this is a common symptom...Good luck pal!!!

I know with me I have ovulating cramps and they start in the morning and go all day so if you have cramps around that time it`s a pretty sure sign that you are ovualting.

You want to talk to your OBGYN about what to look for when you are ovulating. The more information you get from your OBGYN, the better the results will be.
