Since you enjoy reading about the Salem witch trials I will recommend two movies to you I think you will like. I'm recommending them because I actually saw them. The first one is "Mark of the Devil" (1970). It's about the tortures and executions that took place in 16th century England at the witch trials. It's gruesome and disturbing. What I remember most about the film is the fact that at most theater's (like the one I went to) each person was given a "barf bag" along with the ticket because the movie was so gory.
The second movie, my favorite, is "Crowhaven Farm" (1970). It takes place in the early 70's and is about a contemporary woman who inherits a farmhouse in New England that once belonged to a female relative who died centuries ago. The woman, played by Hope Lange moves into the farmhouse along with her husband. She soon learns the farm and the creepy town have a dark history when she dreams of being her ancestor who was a hateful witch hunter. The woman is haunted by the spirits of the witch trial victims her ancestor (I think she was the woman's Aunt) accused as witches and helped execute. These victims actually WERE witches and want to exact their revenge on their accusor's decendant. In one scene the witches try to crush the woman to death under a wooden board which they pile heavy stones on. She escapes. Of course the woman's husband won't believe her (typical). Later in the film we find out the woman is not the only decendant of the witch-trial era living in the spooky town. I don't want to spoil the ending. As I said, this movie is my favorite of all the witch-trial movies and I highly reccomend it. The "witch-trials" were a genre of their own in early 70's horror films and popular at that time. I've attached links for both movies.

If you liked Charmed, you will probably like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and possibly Sabrina the teenage witch. Some witch movies are Twitches, the Craft, and Hocus Pocus. I recomend Buffy, though, It is amazing!

You might like Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
I love reading about the Salem Witch Trials and Charmed is the less exciting version of Buffy, and the covenant I thought was too cliche but Buffy is my obsession and Willow becomes a witch in it.

The Craft is one of my favorites, it's late 90's about four teenage witches. I was a big fan of the Covenant also, I hope they come out with a sequel though, because the ending was sort of weak.

"Practical Magic" with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman is a really good movie and quite funny.
"Witches of Eastwick" with Cher, Michelle Pfiefer, Susan Sarandon and Jack Nicholson is also quite funny and very entertaining.

It's an older one, but I liked 'The Witches of Easwick' with Cher, Michelle Pfiffer and Susan Sarandon. Jack Nicholson plays the devil who gets involved with the three of them. It's really good.
