Yup. Good and bad. Depending on what I'm reading. Takes me right back. Nice to look back and see things from a different perspective though. Sometimes I read them just to remind myself how things change (helps get through rough times) I remember how the hurt doesn't last forever.

I like to read my old journals because it really reminds me of what I was feeling then and why I was feeling it. Its like stepping back into the past. Ive only been writing in a journal for about a year but I think my journal will be very cool when Im older because I will be able to revisit that moment again

I only write about things that are vitally important to me....life changing....worth remembering on paper. When I run across those thoughts I am like you, I am overwhelmed with the emotions that I felt when I wrote them down. This is especially true of my journals about the births of my children.
On the other hand, when I run across my "diet" journals I lament that had I followed my program & continued on the course of action I had set for myself I wouldn't (how many years down the road later) be writing and trying to achieve the exact same goals again! I try not to live with regret but sometimes I feel that when I see these journals.

Along with the full spectrum of emotions given the memory. I am often surprised at how the details of certain events were completely different than I remembered them. I am also surprised by how many people who were so important back then are just a vague memory now. Often the memory of who they were completely illudes me and I can't even recall what they looked like unless there is a detail written about their appearance.

I feel like I've grown up alot and I also relive many of the emotions written on those pages. Some things have actually not changed.

I realize how much I've grown and how thankful I should be that I survived through some very tumultuous years.
You should embrace your old writings and use them as a guide for your future.

That I was a fool in my younger days and that I have done a lot of growing up since then. Makes me see how much I have changed and grown as a person.

I laugh at how immature I was. Mind you I was about fourteen the last time I kept one.
