My daughter bugged me to read Eragon , so I fianlly did. I was disappointed in it. I was expecting a great read, and it just failed to be that good. I had a hard time getting through it, and I really love fantasy books. I don't know if it was just something about Paolini's writing style that I didn't like or what, but I won't bother to read Eldest (or any others)........unless I get extremely desperate for something to read! And I have such a backlog of books-in-waiting, that it could be years before I get that desperate. Of course that's just my opinion, I know lots of people think Eragon and Eldest are super.

I've read Eragon and Eldest, they are both extreamly good books, I suggest you read them if you haven't already... Christopher paoline is still writing the third and final instalment to this series. Not even a tentative release date has been announced yet. It could be towards the end of this year, or it could be the middle of 2008. It's tentative name is "Empire" though that's not finalized either.

I have read Eragon and really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to read eldest, I think I'll get it in my next trip to the US. A release date for the third book hasn't been anounced.

Yes, I've read both of them, and I love them both! Especially, Murtagh, I just love him... I've heard so many rumors about when the next one's coming out that I don't have any idea. Paolini's not revealing anything about the third book except that the cover dragon will be green and looking to the right. I've heard that the book will come out February 2007, summer of 2007, and the end of 2007. So the only thing that anyone agrees on as of now is 2007. We'll just have to wait and see, though.

I read Eragon and didn't enjoy it. It seemed like an attempt to rip off other authors. Especially Tolkien, who I know Paolini esteems, but come on, there's a difference between inspiration and imitation.
