If you need to ask other people's opinion then it is not the choice of name for your baby. The name which is best for your baby is a name that you and your wife not only agree on, but don't care about the opinions of other people. Saying this you should also take into consideration whether the name you choose will make them the prime target for bullying, ie, 'Bottom is bottom' of the class or 'Bottom is an a_s.' Why not call him William instead? William Shakespeare created your favourite character so he deserves the credit surely.

I would not recommend it. I understand it is your favorite Shakespeare character but surely you can come up with something that sounds better that represents the same thing to you and others will also appreciate. Maybe even call him Shakespeare...it would be better than Bottom.

try to find an old fashioned names for your son make him diffrent
if you really like that name get him a stuffed donkey and name it Bottom.talk to your wife about names that would be better you can use a shakespeare charcaters name but make shure you both like it first

Hmmm... isn't there another Shakespeare character you could name him after? What about Romeo? That's cute. Little Bottom will be teased mercilessly in school. It's a nice thought to honnor Shakespeare in such a way, but c'mon! Bottom?

NO! this would cause sooo much humiliation once school comes around..give him a name thats more normal, and call him bottom as a nickname...maybe as a middle name..but DEFINATLY not as a first name..i understand you want it after one of your favorite characters, but think about the humiliation in the future!

I think if you and your partner like the name, then use it. This is your son. This is just one of the first of many hard decisions you will make on behalf of your child. I think it is a very unusual, interesting name. However, another avenue you could explore - if you just really like the character - you could name him Nick (Bottom's first name) which is more traditional.

Yeah, he'll be teased by all of his classmats for having the same name that people often associate with your backside.

How about picking another Shakespeare character??

Ok, I firmly believe it's your choice for what you want to name your child and old William could get away with naming a character 'Bottom' but that kid is going to cry himself to sleep at night and go by his middle name (unless it's no better) until he is of legal age to change it. Give the kid a break. Kids are cruel and you don't need to make him the butt of every joke right off the bat. --Pun intended.

Yeah...
No matter how much you like Shakespeare, he's dead and won't be honored by your naming your child after a donkey.
Not to mention that the kid would probably hate you growing up.
