First of all: Remove things causing the distraction! Secondly: Make to-do lists for your homework and tests. And remember: If one can maintain a new habit for 21 days, the chances that this new routine would be forgotten are dim.

As others have said, do your homework right when you get home! If you find that you're too tired, make a deal with yourself that you'll only rest for half an hour. Set a timer if you need to, and then get to work!

If you don't have a study space that's all yours, talk with your parents about making one. It's easier to study if you always study in the same space and it's a space you psychologically associate with studying. So if you're working at the dining room table or right in front of the TV--don't. See if you can get a desk that's just yours. If you have a computer, turn it off until you absolutely need it so you're not tempted to IM your friends instead of working.

Be realistic about what you'll get done during free periods. If you're tired and will want to talk to your friends because they all have your morning study hall free, then promise yourself that you'll work for half the time and visit for the other half. Pretending that you'll work and then just sitting there thinking about your friends won't get you anywhere, so compromise with yourself.

Good luck. If you've been enrolled in those honors and AP courses, your teachers have faith that you can do it!

HAHAHHA nice to see someone else besides me who's in APs and juggling clubs all over procrastinate. Hmm tell you what....I'll tell you later about how to fix your problem. :PPP

I do my homework (when I actually do it at home) in front of my computer, listening to music. For music, choose the less wordy stuff, more instrumental, because with instrumental you won't pay as much attention to it (and you won't sing along).

Riiiiight. Have you ever been in AP classes? Or are you another one of those people that gets less than 28 on the ACT? By the end of the homework, you're too tired to do anything else. The trick is to enjoy first, then do homework before sleeping. That way, you can go right to sleep after getting so tired.

This is from the wikibook...
"Traditionally, in the field of psychology, procrastination has been associated with perfectionism"
That means it's perfectly normal for those of us above average to procrastinate at least a little.

do your homework RIGHT WHEN YOU GET HOME. don't do it in front of the tv or listening to music. when you get it all done early, you'll be able to enjoy yourself or watch a movie.
