I have had this problem too. My doctor said the number one thing is basal body tempature charts. You have to take your temperature each morning and record it on a chart. (you can get the charts on the internet) Starting with the first day of your period. When it drops and shoots up, that's when you ovulate. Also, when you are doing this buy the ovulation strips. You pee on them and they show the day that you ovulate with your LH surging. There are other signs, such as eggwhite cervical mucus, and a soft cervix. That will happen right before and when you ovulate. When all these things combinded, or only using one way, you'll be able to find out.

Get the book entitled Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. Best book I ever read!
It gives signs of when you are ready to ovulate and the best time(s) to have sex to conceive. I have slightly irregular periods and this book was very helpful. You can probably find one online at E Bay for a little cheaper if you want to. I think I spent around $25 for mine from a store - but worth every penny! It also gives information and advice about other "women" stuff.

see a GP - and start recording your tempretures in the morning (the same time each day)...when there is a big drop in the temp that could be seen as the implantation day (some will disagree) - then when your temp is contstantly higher (for 4 consecutive days) the day of the first temp rise - would have been your ovulation day....

Simple...and kinda gross. About 2 weeks after your perod starts, when you ovuate, you have a thicker white mucusy discharge. The first day you see that is the day you are most fertile.
My friend got pregnant this way and I didn't beleive her but it worked for me too.
