Unfortunately, no. You will need a 64 bit system. Your CPU and Motherboard must be 64 bit. You may just want to sell what you have and purchase a new computer that is Vista ready and more up to date. 1 GB of ram is recommended but if you are a gamer, I suggest 2 GB.

Like me and many others, I think money is an issue for you eh. PC gaming is very expensive but soooo nice.

Try calling local PC stores, suppliers, Internet/gaming cafes, etc to see if they have any used parts that you need. Find other gamers! There are a lot of people out there that DO have the money and get all the latest gear, and guess who can buy their used stuff for cheap?

You need to research what you need and can afford. Check pricewatch.com and other sites for current prices and reviews. I read Maximum PC for info.

Check PC Gamer for their "Hard Stuff" article. It gives you an idea what parts are good for an entry-level machine to the $3000 Dream Machine. I have based two PCs I made before by the articles.

Good luck to you....game on!!!

It is not Vista ready, Celeron is definetly not a 64-bit processor. The Celeron WAS the cheaper version of the Pentium, back before the Core.

However, this computer is fine for somebody planning on just surfing, e-mailing, listening to music, writing documents, regular computer use. It would not be able to handle any brand new video games are higher media editting (audio-video) so comfortably. The Radeon 9600 video card isn't that bad though, how much memory does it have?

Upgrading a processor is generally not viable, without also getting a new motherboard and other pieces of hardware. I'd recommend waiting a few months, and buying a brand new 64-bit media machine after Vista been on the market for a while.

Your computer has very good specs. However Intel Celeron is a lower end of computer chip processor made my Intel. If you really want a higher end computer, I suggest a Pentium D or Athlon by AMD otherwise you will not be able to play hardcore games on your computer.

You have a lot of memory for 1.25 GB and a good graphics card. With your spec you will be able to run Windows Vista but I doubt if your computer can handle playing hardcore games with your computer processing chip, Celeron.

You are not even close. You have an antiquated chip for one thing. But go to pcworld.com and from there you can get the scoop on what you need to do or buy to get a computer vista ready. Also look up the article on how to build a computer.

Celeron is a brand name given by Intel Corp. to a large number of different x86 microprocessor models that they produced and marketed as a budget/value CPU line. The Celeron family complements Intel's higher-performance (and more expensive) product lines (currently Core 2 Duo and formerly Pentium). Introduced in April 1998, the first Celeron was based on the Pentium II core. Later versions were based on the Pentium III, Pentium 4, and Pentium M. These processors are suitable for most applications, but their performance is somewhat limited when it comes to running intense applications, such as cutting edge games or graphical modeling programs, as compared to that of their high-end counterpart

You have a problem with the celeron because it only runs at 2GHz and it is a 32 bit processor other than that the graphic card is not one of the best at the time so I recommend to buy a new computer now-days they include all you need. (look at the new hp line on the web)
