This is just a small portion of what Euler did:
"Euler...made major contributions in optics, mechanics, electricity, and magnetism. He made significant contributions to the study of differential equations. His Introducio in analysin infinitorum (1748) provided the foundations of analysis. He showed that any complex number to a complex power can be written as a complex number, and investigated the beta and gamma functions. He computed the Riemann zeta function to for even numbers."-Scienceworld
also,
"Euler introduced and popularized several notational conventions through his numerous and widely circulated textbooks. Most notably, he introduced the concept of a function[1] and was the first to write f(x) to denote the function f applied to the argument X"- Wikipedia.

Leonhard Euler was a hugely prolific and inventive mathematician. Long after he was dead, a leading French mathematician (Laplace, Lagrange or somebody), who was asked by a student how to become a better mathematician, replied "Lisez Euler, lisez toujours Euler. Il est nos maitre a tout" (Read Euler, keep reading Euler. He is ahead of us in everything).

Euler did so much that even though he died long ago, they are still publishing his work. They'll probably be finished by the end of this century.

Probably his most famous invention was topology, but he also did a huge amount of work on analysis (calculus and functions). He invented all the notation we use today.

You already have answers on what Euler did. Here is some more information:

The 300th anniversary of his birthday will be on April 15, 2007. There is a special website http://www.euler-2007.ch/en/index.htm discusses events to be held regarding this.

Uh, would be hard to fit that in this little box. He was arguably the most prolific mathematician in history. I suggest you google "Euler".

Euler was involved in various forms of combinatorial mathematics, and is perhaps best known for solving the famous Konigsberg Bridges problem. The town of Konigsberg consists in part of two islands in the middle of a river; one island is connected to each shore by one bridge, and the other island to each shore by two bridges. There is also one bridge connecting each bridge to the other. Problem: to design a tour that would let one cross each bridge exactly once. Euler showed that it is not possible to do so.

Good idea to google. One thing he did was to develop a formula that is used to determine when a column will buckle.
