It is best to adopt a guinea pig rather then to buy one at the store. At the store, they are only in the business to make money and the guinea pigs aren't taken care of as properly as they should be and they sell for around 20 to 30 dollars. If you go to adopt one at the shelter, it's around 20 to 30 depending on if it's a male or female, Males or more due to neuturing. But their money goes right back into the care and cost of taking care of the abandoned guinea pigs. I don't buy guinea pigs because of those reasons and will only adopt abandoned guinea pigs.

I have an adorable guinea pig and I got her for free. You just have to know good sources. In my case it was one of my old teachers
and her guinea pig had babies so she gave them out to people she knew very well for free. Or, sometimes there is something in the newspaper in the pet section so just look there. GOOD LUCK!
