You need a college catalog from the school you're looking at. It gives detailed info on general education course requirements as well as degree specific. If you're going to transfer, get in touch with an advisor. I'd advise that as well even if you're in the same school the entire time. I used to work in a university setting and still had trouble keeping all of them straight, as requirements might change depending on year of entrance, if you're going for a BA or a BS, etc. Get a degree plan in writing!

The college catalog should give you a list of the classes needed for a degree. Most classes (not all, but most) and worth three credit hours, so if you know the credit hours, divide by three and you'll have a rough number.
I believe most AA or AS degrees require approximately 60 hours while most BA or BS degrees require at least 120.
Check the web site of the college you're interested in. They probably have the requirements for each degree online.

Each degree requires a certain amount of credits in order for you to graduate. You can speak to one of the advisors in your major to see what classes you need to complete in order to obtain your degree.

Visit the website for the college/university/institution at which you want to pursue the degree.
For a 4-year degree the average is 120.
