If I tell them that I know how to knit, do you think they'll make fun of me? And I'm also having a party, do you think I should tell them or just hide my stuff so they won't laugh.

Good for you-go for it. And don't let others manipulate you or your life will be that of trying to please everyone and end up pleasing no one, especialy yourself!

A bunh of kids ganging up to laugh at someone for what they like is plain wrong and vindictive. They have to have someone to pick on-don't you fall into doing that at others for their choices.
Life is full of fun things-don't pass them up because of what others think-months,years from now,you won't even be around those people and yet giving in to them will affect your whole life in one way or another.

Well anyone who can enjoy knitting should be able to without someone laughing at them. If any one laughs let them first learn! Really anyone who makes fun of another person's work needs a good kick in the rear. Men as well as women knit-in fact men were the first to knit!

Funny thing ... I never knew for years that some of my friends did crochet or knit .. we never talked about it.

With all the fun and funky yarns out I'd make and wear something that they'd admire and say "well I saw the same thing in one of those over priced little boutiques/stores and figured if the stars can do it ... and the boutique gets so much for these things then why shouldn't I look to do something like it ... who knows maybe one day I'll have an "in" design and make lots of money on it ... who'll be laughing then"

Sure, tell them you knit.
At your party, don't hide your things as it's a part of who you are; but at the same time it shouldn't just be sitting out in your living room. Have it in plain sight in your bedroom. Encourage your friends to try knitting and tell them how it's helped you.

People make fun of things they don't understand. If they are truly your friends they will understand that it's something you enjoy. They probably have some unusual hobbies themselves. I wouldn't make an effort to hide it. If they see your supplies and make a comment, tell them how much you enjoy knitting and all the cool things you can make. They'll probably ask you to make them something, then you can offer to teach them how to knit for themselves.

Tell them, casually. If they rag on you about it, laugh with them, but tell them how much it helps you to relax. They'll either want to try it too, let it go, or they'll make fun of you more. If they make fun of you all the time, then they aren't the friends you thought them to be. Who knows, you may like the kids in the club more than your own friends.

I liked high school way better than middle school. In middle school, kids were mean and immature but when I went into high school, people were really nice. I guess it also depends on who you befriend. The work will be a bit harder but as long as you pay attention in class, study, ask questions when you don't understand something, and stay on top of your assignments, you'll be fine. Also, stay from the wrong crowds!

I wish I had a club like that when I was in school. A lot of celebrities are knitting. It is relaxing and creative.

At your party wear something that you have made. If they ask you where you got it. Tell them that you Made It! And that you can show them how to make their own or even better make it for them for a small fee!!! =)
And if they laugh at you they aren't really your friends then. Its not what they think, Its what you think of yourself. Good Luck.. Have a great party.
