He was actually doing a PR thing and was reading to a bunch of elementary school children when he found out about it. The elementary school was Emma T. Booker Elementary School in Florida and he was in with a second-grade class.

As I understand, he was at an elementry school reading to kids when a Secret Service agent went to him and whispered it in his ear.

You mean after it happened, or when he started planning it?? I don't know the latter, but he was at school, with the kiddies learning about fluffy bunnies and such.
