I want nice pool and nice rooms. I realise Mandalay bay is out of the way otherwise i would defintitely stay there as has great pool and nice rooms. What do you think? Does it matter its out of the way? We plan to stay by the pool all day and visit other hotels at night.

Mandalay Bay has a wave pool. MGM's pool isn't that impressive, IMO. Mandalay Bay's hotel is also much nicer for the most part.
Like someone before mentioned, its not that out of the way if you consider the TRAM takes you all the way to Excalibur, and then you can walk across the skywalk to NY NY and the rest of the strip from there. The TRAM is free also.

The MGM attracts kids as well as Mandalay Bay. Not a whole lot be probably equal amounts. Mandalay Bay has the best pool and probably a younger crowd than the MGM. Hard Rock or Palms would be the best for what you want but they are pricey. Might try Planet Hollywood for what you are looking for.

The rooms and pools at Mandalay Bay are really nice.
And Mandalay Bay isn't really that out of the way. There's an indoor skybridge connecting it to Luxor (with nice restaurants and shops).
And if you don't want to go through Luxor, there's a tram departing for the Excalibur "4-corners" (with New York, MGM, and Tropicana across the street) every 5 minutes.

Avoid MGM at all costs. Mandalay Bay is better but if you want a nice pool on the strip for cheap stay at the TROPICANA.

I think the ammenities at Mandalay Bay are a lot better personally. MGM just does nothing for me. Mandalay has a tram to its sister location Excalibur which puts you just as close to everything as MGM does.

I hated the MGM grand. Our room was so bad we ended up upgrading to a suite. Mandalay Bay is sooooo much better!

Mandalay Bay has a better pool and atmosphere. MGM is extremely huge and you will get lost.

mandalay bay has the tram that takes you to other casinos
its not out of the way
