an RPG is a role playing game, which means that you play along a character through a story line and "become" the character, this is different then most games because your build up skills and the story line usually revolves around the main character, a lot of games have RPG elements in them though, like most strategy and adventure games

RPG stands for Role Playing Games. These games you actually take on the life of the character thus playing a role. Other ones like RTS Real time strategy you are basically playing war. You are not living the life of one single person. FPS First Person Shooters aren't considered Role Playing mainly because the plot doesn't have much to do with the characters life. So on and so forth for other genres.

A RPG is a role-playing game. It has a certain role, and usually combat is turn based. You can level up, and collect items/armor/weapons. An Adventure game is like an RPG, and they both have roles, however, usually the interface of an Adventure game is different.

RPG stands for role playing game. Role playing games are like Final Fantasy, etc. The term RPG was originally used for the old games like Dungeons and Dragons where you would just use paper and dice to play the game.

rpg's are like runescape, you know, you make ur own character, buy everything. In certain rpg's u gotta cook ur own food, and plus there is game interraction b/n players in things like runescape. Those are pretty much the main differences. To sum it up, it like role-playing; a character goes to places, talk to other characters, and fights things.

RPG(Role Playing Game) is where you assume a role in the game and start playing it. Most arcade games are of this type.

An RPG requires you to slowly level up your character before the character gets any good. You start out at a low level and as you kill more and more monsters or enemies, you slowly gain experience points, and once you obtain enough experience points, you level up and your character gets stronger, more hit points, more skills, more magic points, etc. It's like working at a job. At first, you barely know anything, but as you get better at your job, you get better and better.

With a regular game, like Super Mario Bros. or Splinter Cell, you don't need to level up to get better.
