They have a discoloration in the middle of them and I'm not sure if that is related to producing milk or dry skin. They (just the nipples) are very sore. During the day the nipples will get sharp pain in them and they will become hard and then it all goes away as quick as it came. Looking for insight...thanks.

hi-your body doesnt produce the actual milk till a week after baby is born.
at around 22 weeks though a clear fluid may start leaking from your breasts.
& when you are a few weeks before delivery in your last trimester-the colostrum comes in.

Yes, you are starting to produce colostrum, a pre-milk substance that your baby will feed off of for the first few days of life. Your milk will not come in until after you deliver, usually 2-7 days afterward. My nipples hurt a lot lately (21 weeks along) especially when it's cold. I can squeeze a little bit out of mine now. If you want to try this, it should be a clear or cloudy substance and not blood. Don't squeeze too hard!

Seems like you are getting the pregnancy pain, your boobs grow during pregnancy and the glands swell a bit, its not really creating the milk but it could possibly be doing so every woman is different and pregnancy makes your body do wacky things before the baby is even born.
oil gland secretion on your nipples if you squeeze your nipples where the dry stuff is and white looking things pop out that is totally normal, its oil that dries up woman get it.

Yes that's it ! mine hurt so bad it felt like someone was sticking knives in them. The best thing to do is get a very snug fitting bra. When your at home standing under a very warm shower helps for moderate pain.I used to cry mine hurt so bad but hte tight bra will really help.Congrats!
