From what I've read, IUD's are the most effective form of birth control out there (with the obvious exception of abstinance.) I've heard great things about Mirena (the kind with hormones)...that it makes your period lighter and often non-existant. But with a regular copper IUD, periods tend to be heavier (55% I read the other day) and last an extra day or so...and there tends to be more cramping.
The good thing is, if you aren't happy with your IUD, you can have it take out and go back to the pill.

I would give it another month at least the IUD takes a good 6months to a year for your body to fully adjust to it. It is a foreign object in your body. Also the problem might be in the IUD you choose. Mirena reduces blood flow and cramps while Para Guard increases them. BUt its up to you if you preffer the pill and dont want to wait it out another 4 weeks then have it removed and go back to the pill.

There's your answer. Usually it's just personal preference when it comes to birth control. They both have hormones- both aren't 100% effective.

If you have an easier time with the pill it's not too late to go back.

You can also talk with your provider about other types of BC- there's the nuvaring that's only once a month as opposed to everyday-

so it's convenience your looking for there are other types of BC that might not effect you as much as the IUD.
