Please please please do not get her diamonds. It screams "I didn't know anything about what you would want so I figured if I threw money at you in the form of something thought of as valuable, you'd be happy."
You'd be much better off to get her something sentimental. Something that really shows the history of your relationship together. For example, take her back to the place where you first met or had your first date. Give her something that would remind her of an early point in your relationship, such as a flower you gave her, or the purfume she wore back then, or an old love note you wrote her. Show her with you gift that you love her now just as much as you did when you were courting.

How about her favorite bottle of perfume that is too expensive for her to just go out and buy, Or a gift certificate to a day spa to get a massage and pampered. Or a heart locket with a picture of you in it engraved you love her. And no I haven't gotten any of these but wish I did. I hope your wife knows what a good husband she has.

A spa gift certificate with a note saying because she does so much for everyone else, she should take time to do something for herself and be pampered like the princess that she is :O)

i did not know that were any men like you out there..gold or diamonds are always a good gift and it don't have to be anything big.. a nice set of earrings..or you could send a bunch of roses to where she works with a nice card...if you don't think that would embarrass her.. some times people get embarrassed by that

Is she a fan of any consultant-type businesses... like Mary Kay, Avon, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, etc.? Sounds cheezy, but I'd LOVE it if my husband took the time to call my favorite consultant for assistance in choosing a gift for me... usually the consultant has a good idea of what type of products your wife is interested in... just don't give her anti-aging products. lol

Get her something that will solve a problem that she is having. For example, if she has dry skin, by her some expensive creams and lotions. Or, by her a service such as maid service or have her car washed for her.
