I have never had a child myself and I want to give her something useful and thoughtful. THis is her last child and will be her third boy, all of which are under 4!! Any suggestions from you mothers out there. I will be staying with her in the hospital and she is having a c-section.

I live 8 hours away and am only going to be there the day before, the day of, and the day after she gives birth, then I have to head back home. So I won't be there to babysit, unfortunately. I am taking the other 2 for an afternoon while I am there.

give her a coupon for free time off and babysitting services on you. Either you pay for the babysitting, or you do the babysitting. Time off, alone, to do what she wants is a treat.

If you really want her to feel special, offer to babysit plus give her a gift certificate to a day spa where she can get a massage, a facial and get her nails painted.

Is she crafty? Does she like to scrapbook?
If she likes to scrapbook head to a craft store and maybe get her a new-baby scrapbook kit. It'll probably come with an album, papers, embellishments, etc...It'll give her something to do in the hospital while the babys asleep. Another thing you could do is offer to develop her film or digital pictures for her so she can use them too....
If you're going to have the other boys help them make something special (a card, picture, poster) for their mom and new brother...
Buy her a good book you think she'll enjoy while she's in the hospital.
If YOURE into scrapbooking you could make her a small book of her other children and leave a few premade pages blank for the new babies pictures..

Birth control. No, I'm kidding. He's most likely getting hand-me-downs from his brothers, so she probably doesn't need clothes, unless you find the perfect thing to buy, that you just couldn't resist, I'd avoid that. She's probably got enough clothes, and everyone else will most likely be buying them too.

As cheesy as it sounds, the thing they probably need most is diapers. Maybe formula too, but that depends on whether she'll be breastfeeding him. Both of those things are pretty expensive, and that's the two things they'll never have enough of.

btw, I'm not a Mom. I'm a Dad.

Give her a gift certificate for a massage or pedicure or something like that. Her whole lifenow is taking care of kids and her husband. Give her something that she can go do by herself to make her feel special again. A day at a spa would be heaven for a mom of four.

Since she is having a c-section the best gift you could give would be to go to her house as much as you can in the first week or two after she is home to help her out with everything, I had a csection and my family was great they came over daily and helped with laundry, dishes, dinner, and the baby it was great.

If you can't be there, then give her a gift card to a nanny service.
