x = Sqrt(a^2 + b^2)

x^2 = a^2 + b^2

x^2 - a^2 = b^2

Sqrt(x^2 - a^2) = b, which is what you want

x-a=b

The square root of (a^2+b^2) is a+b. Then subtract a from both sides.

At least that's how I would do it. Not sure if it's right.

Go to "maths", not philosophy. Philosophy is for those of us who want to think but can't do difficult sums!
