Bananas? Really?

Try these few things. Use a heating pad, or if you have to go out get those Therma-Care patches at CVS. They are awesome! You can wear them under your underwear on your belly and are super toasty warm.

Also, take either Extra Strength Tylenol, Motrin, or Aleve. Don't take aspirin, it makes you bleed more.

Also, avoid caffeine in the days prior and during you period. Caffeine makes you have more cramps.

Good luck honey!

Excercise is helpful in reducing cramps. Also, you may be able to take an over-the-counter product like Premesin PMS. There are several types, but talk to your mom or Doctor about whether you should use them at your age. Also, regular pain relievers like Tylenol, or Advil does help. If you want to take something natural, you can use valerian root, and St. Johns Wart. These are both plants that women have been using for centuries. As far as making your periods lighter or shorter, give it time. For the first several years of menstruation, your periods may not be regular either in length or heaviness. Eventually it will become easier to manage. I've heard that there are new drugs on the market to make them lighter, but haven't done any research on them. You should ask your doctor before trying any of them.

Some of the low dose birth control pills can help have a shorter and lighter period. They may also help with cramps. The best thing for cramps is Advil or Aleive. Sometimes though bad cramps can mean other serious problems. If the cramps keep getting worse or does not get better, see a Gynecologist.

I have not found anything for the cramps except Motrin. The only way I've heard of a period being lighter is through birth control, but you might want to ask for someone's experience on birth control. Sorry I couldn't help more.

This is going to be a bad answer, but after having my son my periods were about 4 days...versus the week they used to be.
I used to have such bad cramps I would stay home from school, lose jobs because of it, and fall on the floor becuase it hurt like a mother ******.
I now take about 4 midols every day Im on it and I dodnt fell as much pain.

Take an ibuprofen a day or two before you are due to start your period this will prevent the painful cramps. Exercise helps to before not necessarily during because obviously sometimes it is too painful to move. Have a Happy Period!

I get the worst cramps the first 2 days, and use pamprin it works great!!!!!

It works for about 6 hours and it does not contain caffeine or anything. Just take it when you first wake up, before the cramps start and take it with a full cup of water so that it dissolves quickly and works fast!

You can buy it anywhere, its by the aspirin.

Try a heat pack or something similar on your tummy if your cramps are really bad. There is always pain relievers like nurofen or panadol. The pill can help to make them lighter, but you have to see your doctor.
