I think that the fashions in the 50's represent a rebirth of sorts. WWII had just ended and we were all beginning to regain our footing. While the boys were off fighting, the women remained at home to work. Pants became an essential part of the working woman's daily life. And when the fellas came home the pants stayed. Life began to boom- literally. The "Baby Boom" brought on a step away from the rigidity of the fashions of previous decades and allowed people to step a little more out of the norm.

The fashion steps taken in the 50's allowed for the onset of so many greater things to come. Mod, Disco, the free spirit of the hippies,so much has come from that time. I think many wear the styles and fashions from the 50's because it was a landmark time in the course of the world. People could breathe for a time without fear or sadness. Life was much simpler and sweeter.

I liked it in the 50's but there is no way I'm going to wear bobby socks, oxford shoes and crinolines ever again!
