If its only the CPU fan that is powering up then you have power to the motherboard, however if it only the PSU (Power supply) fan that is working then it sounds like your motherboard is fcuked. If its a new computer the PSU shouldn't do this but if it is an older computer then that is quite normal. You should take it to an engineer to have a look at. If you fancy a play yourself, be carefull when opening the pc up as there could still be power in the capacitors. Once disconnected from the power try to turn it on (this will drain the power). Whatever you do though, don't open the PSU up, its not safe, and you could do more damage when you try to turn it on. Hope this helps, if you need more help my e-mail is in my username so you can msg me.

Could be anything.

- If all you hear is a fan , and then nothing else (not even the startup beep) you may most likely have a hardware problem , mainboard is the best guess.

- I assume you double checked if all plugs are fitted securely, and all cables attached firmly - so you can disregard that. (or check again to make sure)

- If you do hear beeps - check your mainboard manual, the amount and order of beeps is usually a good indication of where a problem is.

Any beeping noises?
Your motherboard should beep, and the number of beeps tells you what is wrong!
Check your power connections on the motherboard again, and the connections to the hard disc.
The orange light is your hard drive, it may be broken.

yeah, its either a motherboard problem or a powersupply problem.... although it also may be a RAM problem if it is making beeping noises it could be your ram. try testing out different ram if you have a spare set if this works then it is your ram. also try disconnecting your pc for about 10-20 min , this will reset your CMOS which is your bios settings and will replace them to factory settings which may work. if neither work take it to your nerest computer shop theyl gladly help you out...
