"Akti was quoted as saying. 'These television images are responsible for my son's death'."

I believe that it is the parent's fault for not being more direct on the subject of death. Everyone dies, and the sooner a kid learns that, the better off the kid will be. Also, the kid was 12. If a person is stupid enough to tie a noose around their neck, then the kid isn't smart enough to live.

First and foremost I am ashamed that the media would allow these graffically violent images, even in still photographs, to be shown on television. I am in no way a prude, however, I feel that even if a child is protected by his parents the likelihood of he or she seeing this on televison is inevitable. They are not always in the care of their parents. Boys especially , would find it "gross" but also not be mature enough to realize that there are real consequences to mimicing this act. The media must realize that in addition to being informative to the public, that this same public is comprised of children and young people that are too young to comprehend this aspect of crime and punishment. Not all parents know how to approach this type of subject with their children, but that is mostly because the actual images of the execution are not the "norm" of what is shown on tv. Parents, talk to your children. Take an interest in their lives. Intrusive? Probably, but unfortunately that is part of being a parent. You can't be your kid's friend. They have plenty of friends. The job of being a parent is to teach your kids right from wrong and to explain to them what is real and what is fantasy. They'll get over your being intrusive. They won't get over being dead.

Everyone is so quick to blame the media for everything. It is the parents responsibility to edit what their child watches, not the medias. Parents need to start accepting the blame when their kids do bad things instead of finding the nearest scape goat.

Parents need to keep an eye on their children when they are on the PC. This happened in TX to a young old boy. The mother was not watching where her son was surfing. My heart goes out to the family but, it is the parents that need to keep a close eye on it.
