I mean, I am a right leaning moderate, so I am a little bias, but it seems to me that a person has to be completely intellectually dishonest with themselves to whole-heartedly believe in the foundation of the liberal agenda.

Do the liberals HONESTLY believe open-ended public assistance programs will lead to anything more than a greater demand for these handouts in the future?

Do they HONESTLY believe the unbridled illegal immigration of third worlders will lead anything but disaster for this country?

Do they HONESTLY believe the answer to the current shortfalls in public education is to pump more money into the existing structure?

Do they HONESTLY believe that all people should have equal access to higher education, regardless of their level of personal ambition, potential or proven merit?

Do they HONESTLY believe labor unions seek to benefit anyone or anything except their own greed driven self-interests?

I am just curious, intelligent replys are welcome.

Well, I consider myself a libral, and think you are making some broad generalizations. I personally on the assisstance programs, am in favor for them, but think they are not being handled appropriatly. When I was a kid, I lived in an area where the unemployment rate was 50%, my mother who has a B.A. + could not find work and we had to be on welfare. We went off of it right away when she finally did find work. However, I see what you are saying, giving assholes who are popping out 9 kids assisstance is wrong. But at the same time, they need to be educated, because they are being dumbasses. The state also offered medical assisstance to low-income families and individuals. I could not get on it because, are you ready for this, I had a job and went to school and was not pregnant. So, if I quit my job, got pregnant, and left school, I could get on it. Makes sense huh. I think the welfare system needs to be revamped and assisstance programs, but to say that there are not those who need assisstance programs and will not rise above because of it is wrong.
I agree that letting people illegally into this country is not a good idea. However, I have no problem with imigration. My family immigrated here hundreds of years ago, you know, after we killed the people that were here to make it possible. I have heard people who want to do away with immigration altogether. I really don't think that is fair. If somebody becomes a citizen through the proper means, and has the ability to become a good citizen, who believes in the democratic ideals of america, and who knows, help this nation to a greater extent, then so be it. As far as I know, no imigrant has stopped me from getting where I want to be in life.
Public Education, well I am a teacher and yes, I tear my hair out at some of the practices I see. However, one of the problems is lack of funding. Maybe you don't know this but each state has it's own state standards and is funded through property taxes. That means rich schools stay rich and poor schools stay poor, you know, the poor schools, where they are getting less of an education, so they can grow up to be below the poverty line and living on that welfare programe you hate so much.
Yes, everybody should have the chance to try to get to college, but I do think it should be based on what they can show us. However, sometimes it goes backt o education. You want to keep those Urban poor schools poor, well some of them don't even have college prepatory programs. Kind of hard to get ambition about your life when you are pretty much told you are going to work at McDonalds because your public school can't even prepare you for life later.
Labor Unions. I belong to a Union. Every job I've had that has been unionized has given me more money and benifits, jobs that weren't sucked and I made minimum wage with no benifits. There are still places in this country like West Virginia that have coal mines that aren't uninized and are people still owe their sould to the company store so they say. Do I think some Labor Unions are corrupt, absolutly. However, I am glad they have existed for me.
Hope this helps you to get a picture of how I see things. I understand where you are coming from and I think that to make this country better we need to stop running either to the left or the right.
In conclusion, I would like to say that some librals piss me off. I saw a program once where environmentalist (and yes I believe in protecting the environment) camped out in a tree and were yelling at the cops and when they were finally aresseted they had weed on them. Well that pisses me off because they should not be breaking the law and it makes it look like all librals are weed tooting hippies. We are not. I think you get Kooks on both sides of issues who take things too far and it makes the others who feel the same way look bad. My feeling is, i do not want to give a handout, I want to make our society fair for all. That is it.
Hope this helps. I hope I did not come off as offensive but just stating my case.

Did you know that the acceptance of the "fact" of global warming came about in the same way as the Nicean Creed? With the Nicean Creed, men of the cloth found discrepancies in the Bible- John 1:1 and John 17 (whole chapter), for example, and the question arose regarding the nature of God- are the Father, Son and Holy Ghost one being or three? The Christian leadership got together to decide exactly which it is. With global warming, it was another committee- this time it was scientists, meteorologists, climatologists, etc. They met together and the result was that they thought global warming might could possibly be happening. I've never put much stock in the consensus of a committee. Regarding global warming- my fil was a meteorologist for the USAF, and he studied long range weather patterns-- like centuries. He found that there are a couple patterns of which the public at large is completely unaware.... 50-100 year hot/cold cycle. 5-10 year wet/dry cycle. Yes, in the last 50 years, it's been heating up... that's part of the cycle... and in the next 50 years, it will cool down. Mother Nature is a lot more resilient than liberals and fanatics give her credit. Edit- Dr. Em- Nicely put!!!

I lol when people use the word liberal to place a label of stupidity and
lack of fiscal responsibility. I'm a Dem but don't agree with all dems and policies. Not all people in need are some pot smoking bum on the Conner who doesn't have a job with a girl friend with four kids on welfare. that's the crap the rich what you to believe so they can get they taxes cut. If you or anyone calls yourself a Conservative Republican because its sounds like your not wasting tax payer's money, you are being fooled. What do Conservatives conserve anyway?. just think what this country could have done with a half a trillion and counting on a lousy war that should have never go this far

I am as liberal as it gets, green-party liberal.

Before commenting on what you list above, though, I'd like to say that I HONESTLY believe that these are all distractors. The important issues are global warming, the fact that the world is running out of fossil energy without a plan to replace it, erosion, and increasingly undrinkable water. All of these are going to make terrorism look like a walk in the park.

As for the "small" distractor issues,
1) public assistance is such a tiny portion of our budget that I don't care if there are a few cheats. I actually don't care if they are ALL cheats, given the miniscule overall cost, but I don't believe they are all cheats.
2) I haven't thought about this
3) I haven't thought about this either
4) I don't know what you're talking about. I think anyone who is smart enough and works hard enough should be able to go to college regardless of his FINANCIAL status. That's about it.
5) Labor unions certainly improved conditions for workers when they were first formed. The only reason I think they're probably still doing something good is that the big corporations are so afraid of them.

Being an ex-democrat,they are a party of do as I say not as I do.

Look at New Orleans, all the trailers sitting there that our tax dollars paid for,the local and state govt blaming Bush and Fema for their lack of planning, yet they are still asking for more handouts..,guess those topless bars that the debit cards were used for need the money more than those who are truly poor. You cant help people who dont want to help themselves.

They complain about the homeless and what had GW done for them...,werent the homeless around during the Clinton administration?Since he is such a god to the left then why didnt he take care of that problem?

I could go on with the other answers but,it would be too long.lol You make great points.Too bad they cant see past their hate to think rationally.

Do conservatives HONESTLY believe that by cutting taxes for the wealthy and financially secure (raising taxes for the middle class, and nearly removing any sort of assistance system, including social security) will benefit the country as a whole?

Do conservatives HONESTLY believe that they're going to make the world a better place by rejecting all immigrants, closing our borders, and deporting all immigrants (a workforce, and strong source of diversity to the country) as to which many Americans got here today, will benefit our country AND improve our global approval rate?

Do conservatives HONESTLY believe that Christianity should be placed into the curriculum of multi-cultural and multi-religious public schools (removing freedom of religion and removing much of the first amendment)?

Do conservatives HONESTLY believe that by removing most grants and scholarships (making it so only those who come from wealthy families can easily afford higher education) will boost our country's intelligence and higher education rates?

Do conservatives HONESTLY believe that by removing the minimum wage (making it so the unskilled will forever stay unskilled, as their employer can pay them as low as they want), those who have to support families will magically get a better job and not struggle?

I'm just curious how conservatives can believe all of those things. Since it all seems like a "keep the rich on top, poor on bottom" complex. I would say intelligence replies are welcome, but it's extremely rare to find an intelligent response from a conservative.. So thanks anyway! :)

Honestly open ended public assistance programs do not exist. Welfare to work, a proposal of president Clinton, ended open ended public cash assistance programs.

I honestly blame Reagan for amnesty, and Bush for proposing a new amnesty. Apparently your HONESTY and mine disagree.

Should we only have school vouchers? I can read statistics. Better funded schools do better. HONESTLY whats your alternative?

Equal opportunity in higher education should exist for all. It HONESTLY sounds like you got rejected from a school and want to blame it on minorities.

Labor unions strive for their own best interests. I honestly admit corporations will willingly enslave workers if they could to make more profit.

(question 2) Yes. I'm baffled. These immigrants are coming to OUR country and raising the banner of a foreign nation. Is this not an act of war. These liberals call the defense of OUR US borders "Racist". At first, i thought this was just a one word answer to avoid the real issue here, which is the foreign invasion of our country. But they really believe that racism is the issue here. Sir, these people entered here illegally, and have NO allegiance to this nation. I'm baffled to see so-called Americans standing up for rights to millions of people who have no-right to be here. Liberals confuse me, however we have a republican "president" who refuses to do anything about this issue. I answered question #2 because it angers me the most.

I like your question so much, I just emailed it to myself for later review.

No, of course Liberals don't believe any of that crap. But in their smarmy desire to pander to the lowest common denominator, they offer these things in order to get votes.

You really need to read this book: "Do As I Say, Not As I Do: Profiles In Liberal Hypocrisy".

Now, before someone quips that "Oh, Conservatives are just as guilty at hypocrisy", let me point out a very interesting fact: liberals are usually REWARDED for their hypocrisy, while conservatives nearly always are severely punished for theirs. Think about it. (and then read the book !!!!)

I think you've made a great point.
Another great point you could now make, on the topic of eduction would refer to some of the people who've replied.
Notice how our flawed education system has produced cry baby liberals who can't even spell. Last time I checked, "shukin" was not a word. And he tried to insult your intelligence. HAHA. Puny liberals make me laugh.

Anyways, you make a great point. They love to say that they can make things better, and tell everyone what america needs, but they refuse to look at it as anything more than fictional. If they took any of their ideas and applied them to the real world, they would understand that the majority of them work. And even with that, they would have to come up with their own ideas instead of simply saying that the Republican's are wrong.
