My daughter got a manicure for Christmas that included fake nails. Now that her real nails are growing out, the fake ones are becoming a hassle. What is the right way to remove the nails and the remains of the adhesive?

I don't know what a filler is. She simply wants the nails off.

Soak the nails in acetone. This will safely eat away the fake nails, as well as the adhesive. It can take a couple of hours to get them off, but it's a harmless way of doing so.

All you need to do is get a little bowl of nail polish remover and soak each nail in it for about 15 seconds or until it becomes loose and then gently take them off and it should take off the adhesive too and if the nail polish remover does not work you can get a nail file or go to Wal-Mart and ask for one and gently file the adhesive off and then rub her hands with lotion for any irritation in the cuticles.

She needs to go to a nail salon and tell them she would like her tips removed. They will soak her fingertips in a bowl of acetate. The nails will melt off. Then, the manicurist will scrape off the remaining acrylic with a stick. After that, your daughter should ask the manicurist if she has NailTek which is a protein treatment that is perfect nails that have been covered with acrylic because her real nails are going to be weak and brittle.

my advice is to put nailpolish remover in a little bowl or cup and have her soak her nails in it for about 2 minutes, the nails should soften up and some may be able to be pulled off. if that doesn't work all i can think of is you should go to the salon where she got them put on and ask them if there is anything to do.
also, i suggest you don't let her get fake nails in the future. if she wants long nails she can buy nailpolishes with vitamins in them [i get them, they work!] usually i get Sally Hansen polishes. for example, i have this kind called 'natural nail growth activator'. have her try out something like that.

either have her go to a nail salon or soak them of with acetone polish remover. Then put a strengthner on her nails. The best is Sally Hansen

Dont get a filling. Yes fake nails look good. But they wreck havoc on your nails.

In order to achieve naked nails the easy way, you’re going to need a few tools:

Nail clippers or scissors
Nail file
Pure acetone (you can find this at any beauty supply store)
Large cotton balls
Aluminum foil, cut into long strips
Orangewood cuticle sticks
Nail buffer
Olive oil or heavy hand cream
Patience--remember how long it took to put them on? Well, it usually takes at least that long to get them off.

Once you have everything assembled, I suggest you pop in a Will and Grace DVD and get comfortable, as removing your acrylic nails may take awhile. Here’s what you do:

Grab those nail clippers and cut your nail tips down as far as you can--the shorter you can get them, the less acrylic nail you’ll ultimately have to pry off.

Using your nail file, file off any gel or topcoat on your acrylic nails so that they are more susceptible to the acidic qualities of the acetone.

Soak ten of your cotton balls in acetone until they are completely saturated.

Lay one soaked cotton ball over each of your acrylic fingernails.

Use the foil strips to wrap each cotton-topped fingernail as tightly as possible.

Enjoy Will, Grace, Jack and Karen’s antics for at least 20 minutes while you sit still and let the acetone work its magic. NO CHEATING!!! If you remove the foil prematurely, the acrylic will immediately start to harden again, so just hold your horses.

After watching at least a full episode, peel back the foils from your acrylic nails one at a time.

Using a clean orangewood stick, scrape the acrylic right off! It should come off easily, but if you find some stubborn residue, gently buff it off with your nail buffer.

Finally, massage olive oil or heavy hand cream into your nails and nail beds, as acetone is extremely drying. Continue to apply oil or lotion at least three times every day for the first few weeks your acrylic nails are off--don’t forget to do it right before bed! You can certainly keep up this ritual for life if you’re craving super-silky, healthy nails!

I don't recommend going to the salon. They are not very gentle when removing them. I don't recommend fake nails because your real nails can get infected.

you can have them taken off prob is her own nails under are going to be etremely weak due to the fact they grind off the top layer of the nail to get them to adhere. you can try acetone remover. if you have a problem go back to where she had them done~
