1) you can buy music at Apple in Itune but you have open an account with them
2) if you have music CDs, you can drag the music to your Itune library or you could put the whole CD in the Itune library

buy it from the iTunes music store.
If you want it from a CD, open iTunes. Put the CD into the drive. An icon will appear on the side (with your playlists). Click on it. Select the songs and make it put the songs you want on.

You can download music from limewire.com in to itunes. It is the most popular and is free too.You will then need to 'import' the songs you want to itunes library and only if they are in itunes library will they sync and add to your ipod when you connect the ipod charger to the computer.
Here is how you import songs to itunes library.In your itunes window,
Go to File>>Import>> select song/songs you want
and they will add to your itunes library.
